Richard Seguin

The Seguin family has been grape growers in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1900, initially selling grapes to négociants. In 1970, Anne Dugat (sister of Bernard Dugat, former owner of Dugat-Py) married Gilles Seguin, adding Dugat family vineyards to the estate, now known as Domaine Seguin. Richard Seguin, their son, worked as a winemaker at Jean-Philippe Marchand (2001–2007) and then at Olivier Bernstein (2008–present), where his wines gained worldwide acclaim.

In 2018, after his mother Anne’s retirement, Richard fully inherited the domaine and committed to producing wines under his own name. His time at Bernstein, combined with techniques learned from his uncle Bernard Dugat, shaped his distinctive winemaking style. The domaine transitioned to organic farming in 2018, and Richard employs a unique "golden ratio" fermentation method, using 80% whole grape bunches. His wines are renowned for their richness, elegance, and respect for Burgundy’s heritage, with fewer than 4,000 bottles produced in 2023. To combat wine speculation, Richard refuses to send samples or host critics, ensuring his wines remain authentic and accessible. In 2026, he plans to reclaim vineyards, including Charmes-Chambertin, previously leased to Dugat-Py.
