Hungary

Hungary, with over 58,000 ha of vineyards, is one of Europe’s oldest wine-producing countries, with traditions dating back to Roman times. Since the 1990s, Hungarian wine country has experienced a renaissance. Historic cellars were restored, modern wineries were established, and a new wave of winemakers began exploring both classic and forgotten regions, breathing new life into the country’s wine scene.

Today, Hungary shows it is ready to innovate while honoring its deep roots. The country is home to 22 official wine regions, each offering its own unique character. From bright, mineral-driven whites to bold, spicy reds and world-renowned sweet wines, Hungary’s diverse terroirs offer something for every palate. Its wine regions span volcanic hills, river valleys, and rolling plains each with its own story to tell.
