Renato Family (MAUGERI)
Situated on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, Cantina Maugeri captures the essence of Sicily’s most expressive terroir — where sea breeze, volcanic soil, and altitude meet in perfect harmony. Born from the vision of Renato Maugeri and his daughters Carla, Michela, and Paola, the estate represents a heartfelt return to family roots and the revival of ancient Etnean viticulture. The vineyards extend over 7 hectares between the contrade Praino and Volpare, rising to 700 metres above sea level, framed by more than 2.8 kilometres of lava-stone terraces that preserve the landscape’s authenticity. Here, native grape varieties — Carricante, Nerello Mascalese, and Catarratto — thrive in mineral-rich volcanic soils, absorbing the unique energy of Mount Etna. Each Maugeri wine tells a story of its origin: the freshness of the sea, the strength of the volcano, and the patience of human hands. The family’s philosophy is rooted in respect for nature, low-impact farming, and careful vinification that allows the land to speak for itself.
